Hi, i'm trying to hook my Panasonic SA-AK520 up to my Sony PS3, i've bought an optical cable, and i've set up the PS3 end, setting it to Optical - 5.1 Dolby, yet it still won't make any noise, i'm presuming it's the stereo end.

I really your help.

Ok, i just had a closer look, and it says "Optical Out", but there's no "Optical In", does that mean it doesn't accept optical input?

Have you got both manuals? If not, do a google and download them?

I have tried googling the manual, and i can't find one. But i'll keep trying.

Also, i want to connect the two because i want the speakers (sound) from the system to replace the speakers from the TV, because they are better. I desire this for two reasons, first being the fact that i have 62 films on my PS3, and a rather large (albeit somewhat improvised) surround sound system would make them sound rather good. Secondly, i have over 1000 songs on my PS3, and the CD player in the Stereo skips a bit, so it might come in handy.

If all else fails, i'll hook them up to my computer.

Try this.

http://www.usermanualguide.com/panasonic/cd_sterio_system/sa-ak520

Although it doesn't say anything about using a optical connection.
