Hey

I just hooked up my Pioneer with a optical ,and cant get dolby, but it did on my last pioneer, and the setting on the sky box are ok.

I have the sky box hooked to HDMI 1 on the pioneer, but when I select HDMI 1 on the pioneer input, it brings up pic and sound but no Dolby.

But If I select tvsat, which there is not input for on the back, it will bring up dolby sound but no picture.

Is there a way of assigning the HDMI to TV sat, or making the TV sat reg the HDMI 1.

Thanks so much

Oh by the by, The RX6 with the amp and RX1 rears are AMAZING, Will post full pics and review in the next day or two.

Thanks

It might be that the optical connection is plugged into the incorrect optical connection for that particular HDMI? You can assign HDMI inputs to whatever input you like, so if you have your Sky box plugged into HDMI 1, you can assign that to the TV input of the SCLX82, although there will be one already assigned to it.

Hey dave, I have put the HDMI in every port ,and also moved the optical around in TV/SAT mode and also HDMI 1 mode, and nothing.

There is a setting on the MCACC screen, asking if I want to rename, but I dont want to re-name as there is already a TV/SAT input, but does not show this on the back of the amp, it shows BD then HDMI 1,2,3 then in assign

If you go into the menu and find 'input select', choose the TV/Sat input, and see which optical is the default, likewise the HDMI. On this screen, you usually select where the audio is coming from.

IIRC, there should be a slide down panel on the remote, behind which there's a handful of buttons. I think if you press 1, or it could be 4, then you should be able to change audio input while you're still watching Sky...

Hello canada,

I have just got the new lx53 and had the same problem. I had to turn off hdmi control in the menu, then assign hdmi 1 and opt 1 to the tv/sat input in the input setup menu. then leave the menu and select tv/sat and then press signal select button on remote control until you get digital in the screen display on the front of the receiver, and then you should have DD.

Hope this helps mate.

Thanks for the help, will try that when I get home.

Its very strange that there is a tv/sat signal select, but does not recognize the HDMI from the Sat/tv

So if I get this right, go into the MCACC display and go to input select in options, then Do I change the HDMI 1 to sat nav as it says I have to change the name with a little keyboard type thing. and that will sort it?

Thanks sorry to be a pain.

hi,

no problem at all mate

Yea, from the MCACC display go to system setup, then select input setup, then you have to assign hdmi 1 input to sat in the input menu, i didnt have to rename the sat input but did anyway. You can also assign opt 1 input to the hdmi 1 input but i preferred assigning everything to the sat input as it was easier for me (i have to program all the necessary remote control buttons into a special environmental control system because i'm paralysed from the neck down), but when you select the input to watch tv you will have to press the signal sel' button on the remote control until you have selected digital (you only have to do this the first time), and then all the right boxes will appear on the front of the receiver to denote it is processing dd 5.1,provided your on a channel that is transmitting this of course.

i have just read this back and realised it does sound a little confusing, but when you get home and go into the menus it will hopefully make more sense. cheers

Ok tried again and still nothing, pressed every input available and nothing coming up.

In the set-up if you chose HDMI 1 it does not give option for Optical, put if you press TV/SAT it does, but its not assigning HDMI 1 which is were the HDMI plug is located, directly below the BD input.

How do I get the Amp to register as TV SAT and get a pic, cant see anything in the book.

Thanks

Hey Mate,

I think you have to switch off the hdmi control function first, well I have to anyway, before it will let you assign hdmi input to another input.

Hope this helps.

Another stupid question, how do you do that.

Under HDMI in the menu it does not allow me to put optical on it.

How can I get the TV/SAT setting to reg the optical and the HDMI?

Thanks neil

Hey Mate,

turn off the hdmi control option by first entering home menu then select system set up then select other set up then select hdmi set up and then switch control to off.

You should be able to assign different inputs then, but don't forget to press signal sel button on the remote to select digital input when you are watching the sat chanel to get dd 5.1

cheers mate

Canada this may help.

I turned all off at mains then switched on again and selected tv sat and a film in dolby d and removed optical from back of sky box then reconnected and dolby d flashed up a few times and now its on.

Hi canada16,

Have you turned KURO LINK control off? Page 81 in the maual

Assign an optical to the HDMI input, then select the HDMI input so you can see a picture.

Pg 65 of the user manual explains the next bit - press number 4 on the remote to change the signal being received to optical. This should work.

Ok Canada, after all this, it looks like I'm in the same boat as you! When I set up my amp a few months ago, I know it was all set up correctly, but I didn't check to see what audio signals my amp was receiving from the Sky box. As my TV viewing isn't particularly important, it's never really worried me as my system has sounded great, so I've not had any cause for concern. While I had a few spare moments tonight, I thought I'd have a look in my menus and try and sort your problem out. I checked my Sky Hbox was outputting correctly, which it is, and I also checked that the signal reaching the amp was in fact the optical and not via the HDMI - the SIGNAL SELECT button underneath the pull down section at the bottom of the remote will allow you to cycle through auto selection and aso through specific audio inputs. I selected DIGITAL, which is the optical input for the TV/SAT input, so I know that the amp is receiving a signal from the Sky box. But mine too says PCM.

Stop pulling your hair out, and I'll speak to Pioneer tomorrow.....

Hey dave, thanks for that, was trying everything last night and nothing.

Tried unplugging every cable and re-hooking up and tv/sat was still not registering.

My system sounds great, I am just one of those people, that if I know it can do something, I need it done now. LOL

Thanks again

Called pioneer, they picked up the phone straight away, he said its a common problem.

Go into kuro link in the settings, turn it off and make sure no multi zone was on either.

Then go into TV/SAT then put opt 1, then hdmi 1. then press finish.

Then press signal select until you see digital, all good now, got DD on the TV/SAT setting

Thanks for the help guys.

I hot swapped a HDMI and it wrecked the hdmi cord for some reason, it wont work anymore and it was brand new, so spent 2 hours yesterday playing with the amp and the TV thinking it was that, but when I changed the HDMI cable for a new one it was all ok.

Anyway, got about an hour of cleaning cables tonight, putting the spikes on the RX6 and re-doing the MCACC as reset the amp due to this HDMI thing.

I listened to some music when everything was good, day before and the sound was amazing and crisp, very detailed, and the bass is very controlled and tight as well and I had no subwoofer on.

Amazing set-up and wont be changing anything for a long long time.

I've been listening to Last.FM and Napster a lot recently, and I'm just stunned as to how good my system sounds - I think if people heard it blindfolded, they'd swear it was a hi-fi system not an AV system.
