problem with lcd and ps3!?

My new ps3 turned up today i connected it all up via hdmi and cant get a picture ive got a philips 32pf9830 lcd which only has 1 hdmi input so i unplugged my DVD connected it via the new hdmi then tried my other hdmi that i know worked and still nothing any suggestions from anyone? i would try the standard cable but theres not one in the box is there a problem with this tv and running a ps3 in via hdmi im a little lost.

As I remember, the PS3 needs setting up with the standard cable first before you get any output via the HDMI socket - this ensures people with standard def TVs can use the PS3 if they don't have an HDMI socket. You say there isn't a standard cable in the box? If not, there most definitely should be so get on to your retailer.
