Because nothing is broadcast in DD (5.1) on ITV1 HD.

I'm just wondering why it's not DD 5.1 .....it's only worth watching for the musically challenged wannabees.

Unless the adverts are in DD 2.0 and not the programme. I switched over when the adverts came on (yes I'm watching it - I have two daughters, a female niece and my missus in the house - what chance have I got!) and then back again and DD 2.0 flickered across my amp's screen.

ITV1 HD doesn't carry DD5.1 audio at all,

There is currently 4 regional versions of ITV1 HD - London, Granada, Meridian(S) and Central West...One region carries DD 2.0 audio (meridian south IIRC) the other three carry MP2 audio.
