I'm currently running Cyrus pre2 Dac Qx with psx and stereo 200 with CDT into a set of Proac studio 118's. I'm going to upgrading to towers for one reason only kids it's just a matter of time and with a couple of close calls already time to switch.

Im leaning towards the 20R's but really enjoy these 118's and hate to give them up there that good. Anyone hear the new studio 148 or d20R. My sweet spot is about 6 feet away and I have the room to spread them out to 80" if I want to.

The D20Rs have been quite popular recently, even more so than the D18, and that's against various other competition as well. Generally, those who like the ProAc sound tend to like most of their speakers, so I can't see you being disappointed with them. Your Stereo 200 will control them nicely too.

Worth getting a demo if you can.

I can't even here those or the D20r I'll be doing it deaf. It's one of those I better get right and....lucky but I do like my proac's and even more so these new studios imo have been tuned a little different from the past. It's a small shop here in western Canada that doesn't carry stock and I get that.

The new Studio range do seem to be more in line with ProAc's other ranges - in the past they had always sounded slightly different, now they sound like a lower extension of the Response range.

Any chances you heard the studio 148's they may be worth the savings if they sound as good as the 118's. I had a pair of D28's and I stand behind this musically the 118's are better IMO

By no means am I trying to be disrespectful David sorry if I came off that way. For some reason the D28's didn't speak to me though I was running parasound A21 and JC2 pre I was happy with investing back to Cyrus. I just don't want to spend a extra grand more for the d20 R's if the 148's are as good as the 118's just with more scale.

I have the PMC 20.23 on my short list to go with my CDT, pre2 DacQx and stereo 200. It will be one or the other Im a hard rock fan so I will be going off of the views from others.

David have you heard the studio 148 by chance? That looks like this is going to be the speaker I can't find much on the Internet. Or anyone else for that matter
Yup. As I said before, the Studio range now sounds like an extension of the Response range rather than a "budget" range that sounds a bit different.

well it's safe to say that I'm torn between the 148 which I can pay for now or wait and save for the D20R but is it worth the extra grand.
