Hi,

I just recently acquired this but am slightly confused when I set it up. As you all might know already that it connects via the tape in/tape out of an amplifier, in this case mine. What I don't get is that I can listen through the headbox even though the tape function is not highlighted on my amp. If I do highlight the tape function, I still get sound from the headbox (via headphone of course). Using both methods, the main volume has to be turned of the amp....is this right?

Regards,
Me

tape out/monitor is normally constantly live.

when you press the Tape button on the amp it is to listen to the input not the output/monitor.

The tape out on the Kandy LIII is always on, regardless of what you've got the tape button set to.

If you Google for Roksan LIII manual you should find it in PDF form.

My understanding (correct me if I'm wrong someone) is that when you hit the tape button, you are hearing a signal from the tape deck, rather than directly from the source you are recording.

So, for example, if you are recording a very quiet source, and you have turned up the input level of your tape deck so that the resulting recording is louder than the original, then when you hit the tape button you will be hearing the louder version.

gbhsi1:Sorry Nads- I don't understand.

OK think like this.

you have a tape recorder connected. and you want to record something. what do you select? tape or CD.

you select CD the tape out is still active. the tape function on most amps is to allow you to monitor what you are actually recording via speakers/headphones.

So in your case there is no need to press the tape button.

Do you have the line-out from the Headbox connected to the tape-in of your amp?

The line-out of the Headbox is there to enable you to still use a recorder of some sort attached to the tape loop without having to disconnect the Headbox everytime.

Amp tape-out - Headbox line-in and use the amp to select the source.

I have the pro-ject amp in & out connected into the roksan tape loop in & out (so I am using two interconnects)- so what you are saying is I do not have to use both interconnects?
