Still can't help thinking some of this is a teeny tiny bit Photoshopped...! Probably just the impressive clarity of the images.

JoelSim:It's a bit ugly, and old-fashioned. I mean he still has to get out of his chair and Putin a CD.

I have read your post, and still don't have any idea what it does...

Andrew Everard:Ah got it: plays to the anti-hifi speakerette gallery, and makes a feeble pun.

You've got me there Andrew. Well and truly.

Tonestar1:Loving the Technics reel to reel. Looks fantastic.

Yep, nice piece of kit.

They come up for sale quite regularly, there are different models and the higher spec reels are better. Not long ago there was a brand new one found still boxed up in its original wrapping! It was found in a warehouse!

There are plenty of retro reels out there from Marantz and Akai for example, which are available at good prices. I was looking into one not long ago for a source but the music that is available is pretty thin on the ground from what i could see, so for me buying one would be for nostalgic reasons. I remember playing christmas song's amongst others on a reel when i was a kid.... Good times....

The caveat here is finding one in good - if not as new - condition and even then likely needs a good service by a qualified engineer.

Our Revox came from Richmond Theatre, which was selling off a lot of its old kit

It was in brilliant condition, but it still needs specialist servicing every now and then to keep sounding at its glorious best.
