My hi-fi set up is ARCAM ALPHA 8 AMP .RECORD/DECK/CD/TUNER /GRAPHIC EQ./MISSION SPEAKERS.
All working FINE; The alpha 8 has preamp inputs;which I am NOT using ;would I be better to ?
If so how should I wire everything up ?

Welcome Martin.
Can you confirm that what you've got is an integrated amplifier?
(Integrated means that the pre and power amps are in the same chassis).
If so, is there nothing currently connected to pre-in (no links)?
Have you got an instruction manual?

YES i have the manual; it is an integrated
reading from the manual;PREAMP OUT
to use your alpha 8 as a preamplifier connect
the preamp OUT socket to the input sockets
(power amp in ).
at the rear of the amp you have preamp out L/R PORTS
But i,m unsure as to which sockets to connect to ?

There isn't really much to gain by using this amplifier as a pre amplifier in my opinion.
Why pay extra for a stereo power amplifier and then not use the amplifier section of the amp you already have??

If you got a stereo power amplifier it would have a pair of inputs marked Left and Right to connect to.

....I was wondering why you first mentioned pre-amp in 🙂
You're already (internally) connected to your own power amp.
The pre-out sockets allow you to use an external power amp.
But as Al said above, you might as well use the one you've got.
