I've got a NAD 326 & 545, and a Cambridge Audio 650A & 650C. After extensive testing, the CA stuff is the main system, partenered with B&W 685 speakers. The NAD stuff is now in the study.

I was amused to see that the CA amp has a "pre out" for a power amp. Given that CA's power amp costs nearly twice the 650A & C combination, I was curious to ask whether any body would seriously undertake such an upgrade, and what would be achieved in terms of the sound? If I wanted to upgrade my system what would be your recommendation (apart from reconnecting the NAD stuff) ?

Looks like I'm a potential winner of the WHF most ignored post award, and it's £30000 hifi prize. I just hope some ****** doesn't mess it up by replying to my post. Uh...............hang on................doh!

I can't speak for the C.A stuff, but when I added a power amp to my integrated amp, and bi-amped my B&Ws, I heard a big difference.... All of it good.

I can also confirm a big improvement when I added an Exposure 3010 power amp to the existing Exposure 3010 integrated, with different sets of speakers. All were replaced later by much more expensive stuff, but it was generally a very good bi-amping experience. Sorry, no experience with your particular models. Regards from Abu Dhabi.

I recently added an Arcam 8P power amp to my 8R integrated to bi-amp my Triangle Titus TZX's, and the difference was well worth the outlay. Saying that, my outlay was only £150 vs the £800 that Richer Sounds want for the 840E.......
