Possible to use built in DAC in CD player as channel for digital music files???

Hi there,

Following advice on another thread I posted, I'm trying to work out whether it's best to buy a new SACD/CD player, or to enhance my existing player with an external DAC.

On this note, is it possible to use the built-in DAC on an SACD/CD player for digital tracks, or would I need to use an external DAC for this function?

Depends on whether the CD player has digital INputs, most don't.

PS have just done a little research into this and found out that the Marantz SA8004 and the Pearl Lite both have digital inputs which allow you to use the built in (high spec) DAC to improve any mp3/digital files...
