Hi Folks,

I need to run another aerial cable to my parents bedroom for a tv we're putting in for them.. i think the best way to do this would be to use a F type splitter with screw on connections and split the aerial feed in the attic.. but we already have a spare co axial cable running from the back of their main tv to the attic to another room that we can re route. I am hoping i can use a co axial y splitter like this one : http://www.philex.com/assets/images/products/393-1-large.jpg

http://www.philex.com/catalogue/product/?id=393&cat=1099

to split the freeview signal coming in from the aerial and pipe it back up the spare cable to their room...

Can i use a splitter like that or do i need to use a F type one for the digital signal?

Cheers,

Mick

You can split the signal coming from the aerial any way you want. The only problem may be loss of signal strength when it's split to more than one TV.

Your best bet would be to run the aerial into an amplifier in the attic - the 2nd best place for an amplifier (after the mast). I have my freeview signal distributed to 5 sockets (3 currently in use) and the signal strength is fine.

I have just popped up to the attic and I have a Philex SLX 8 way (more than you need, obviously). It has worked perfectly for four years, so am happy to recommend it, although I am sure others are fine too.
