Sounds like you have done some homework already Tony. The combination will suit classical very well .

Although for classical I prefer a larger driver in the speaker such as the Monitor Audio RX 2 ( 8" driver) or BX2's 61/2 " driver. or something like the EB2.

You don't want to tax the amplifier too much, so the BX5's are a good choice. You can also look at the KEF Q500 or Q700, which are an easy 8ohm load and higher than average sensitivity - KEF usually use the 6004 to demo the Q10 and Q300 at shows and exhibitions. The Tannoy DC6T Revolutions are also worth a demo.

I'd agree with David......(Hi David)

But would suggest the KEF Q700 is a larger room, and the KEF Q500 is a smaller one.....

Any idea of your room size?

The BX5's would be a very good choice as would the M/A RX2's on decent stands

The RX2's really produce a superb sound which is huge; solud, deep & punchy bass but with a great midrange and top end to boot as well

For your amp I'd say that the RX2's would be the top end of difficulty to drive; the BX5's are an easier drive but not by a massive amount

The Acoustic Energy AE Neo 3 V2's would work very well indeed as would the Neo 4's (they're big so need a lot of room to breathe)!

Superb speakers but for me the PM6004 just wont get the best out of them

The M/A RX2 standmounters with their 8" driver would be a good half-way choice between the BX5's and RX6's

On decent mass loaded stands (i.e. Atacama HMS 2's or Patingtons loaded with atabites) the RX2's kick out hell of a lot of sound and their bass is deeper (at times) and punchier than the BX5's

I own the BX5's and have had the RX2's in the past and they really are superb speakers!

Did you plan to use other sources apart from CD or is it a one-source system?

The Marantz PM6004 will be more than capable; I have run both sets of speakers on my CR603 as mentioned in my sig and they sounded fantastic (only got rid of the RX2's as the wife didnt like the industrial looking stands in the living room) :silenced:

The NAD C326BEE amp with the Marantz CD6004 would make for a very good combo as well as would the likes of a NAD C355BEE (2nd hand), Arcam alpha 10 (2nd hand), Roksan Kandy LIII (2nd hand) or Musicla Fidelity XA100/200 (again 2nd hand)

If you want new then I'd deffo consider the Marantz PM6004 or NAD C326BEE amps with the Marantz CD player. Throw in a Chord CobraPlus interconnect and some Chord Odyssey 2 / QED Revelation speaker cable and you've got a cracking system with either the M/A BX5's or RX2's

Well that's really your decision in the end - if you have CDs only, or LPs, radio, music on computer or hard drive...the trouble with the integrated amplifier is it is limited to some extent. If you need a DAC for music on a computer for instance, then you buy a separate DAC or get an amp with a DAC built in. Not a problem if you don't mind a few more boxes to store on your rack, but something to consider if you do.

Sounds like a lovely day of demoing:

Nad C326BEE and Marantz PM6004 with the CD6004.....

And

MA BX5
MA RX2 ( if your happy to go standmounted)
KEF Q500's.

If you do go to demo these, I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

Well if you live anywhere near Coventry, I know a place that I suspect would have all these products for demo...
