Hi all

I have been given the task by my 15 year old son whos bIrthday and xmas presents come at the same time,to find a 1080p lcd tv .Now i have read and read, i understand p stands for progressive scanning of the image and makes for a better picture ,however he can only fit a 32 inch tv in his bedroom .He is a big gaming fan (xbox 360 ) and has all the latest shooot um up games (good mother that i am )!

I have heard that this 1080p thing is not very relevent on the smaller screen ,but he is insistent on having one .Not only that but obviously the 1080p tvs are alot more expensive .I have been looking at the sony KDLW324000 but it is so expensive at about£610-700 depending on where you look .I really don't want to pay out that sort of money if he's not going to see any difference ,i have also read that there is alot of ghosting on these sets .I am so confused ,i want to blind him with science and tell him that the 32inch just wont do it for him ,so forget the 1080p,but if i'm wrong he wont be very happy with me . Any help and advice on which model i can look at ?

Thanks Sally

But seriously - though the KDLW324000 looks pretty spectacular from a PS3, I'd question the need for 1080 in a 32" screen, notwithstanding the fact that the size of your typical fifteen-year-old's bedroom is probably going to mean he's pretty close up.

How many 1080p Xbox games are there? I thought majority were 720p?

Ginder:Xbox can handle 1080p not just 1080i.

yep it can but only for watch movies, 1080i for games.

What a complete load of rubbish!

The 360 can and does output games at resolutions upto and includeing 1080p at either 50htz or 60htz FACT! and this is either via HDMI or Component on older non-HDMI models

The fact that there are still limited numbers of games coded at a native resolution of 1080p is another point all togher (before PS3 fanboys shout out this is also a fact on PS3) as 99% are at a native resolution of 720p so a 1080p screen especially on a 32"" set is just not necessary and to be honest you would not notice any real world differance at this screen size seeing as the 360 or the screen will have to upscale the image resolution.

Save some money and get something like this http://www.richersounds.com/showproduct.php?cda=showproduct&pid=SAMS-LE32A457 my kids have one in their Games room with a 360, Wii and PS3 and it works extreamly well.
