Playstation 3 fan noise

HI all

Been recently running the PS3 whilst watching Blu Ray and have noticed that the fan noise is a lot greater than when I bought it originally. is there anyway of reducing this noise, or is it a product defect which I should get sorted. The fans turns up to full volume about ten minutes in

do the same as in this video it should blow any rubbish thats inside it out the back, or do the old hover on the back of the ps2 trick

Make sure it's well ventilated as well i.e. not sitting on top of another component (which will be heating it up) and a reasonable amount of space around the back and side vents.

I have allways found My PS3 to be reasonibly noisy at a simular volume of noise say compared to My Sky HD box.

Mine is on top of another unit in a cabinet with no back and with the door closed it builds up heat quickly and the fans go into overdrive.
Doors open it's very quiet and heat expels easily. I would like to keep the door closed so thinking about a pc fan type arrangement in there.

On the other hand with the door closed my Xbox360 threatens to practically melt the cabinet and drown out ALL sound within a 100 metre radius. It really is a shodily designed bit of electronics, it's noisy at all times.

I've just replaced my Premium XBox360 with an Elite and that is far quieter
I don't know if that is typical though
