I was wondering if someone could give me some advice.

I am close to moving into the world of HD tv and finally ditching our trusty CRT. I've been back and forth over wether to go Plasma or LCD and I think I understand that Plasma is generally regarded as the better course. But I have three small daughters (god help me!) who like to watch channels which tend to have a lot of on screen graphics (PopGirl, CBBC etc etc) and who also have mastered the Sky Plus box and have a habit of leaving a programme paused while they do something else.

Therefore would I be better off going LCD or am I worrying about nothing and a Plasma will be fine.

I've been looking at the TH42PX80 and the 40W4000/40V4000.

 Thanks for looking.

Screen burn should be a thing of the past, but you can get a bit of retention. However, that can be cleared quite quickly, although someone on here recently took a few goes to get rid of it. If you are worried, and feel you will be looking over your shoulder all the time then you might be better off going LCD.

If picture quality, and deep colours are the most important, I would always go Plasma.

I have a 37PX80 and two kids - 7 & 3. Despite Nick Jnr and CBeebies being paused while they go out to play for an hour, I have still not had any retention let alone screen burn. I get more annoyed that they leave the plasma on wasting energy rather than worry about screen burn, which I think has all but been eliminated by manufacturers now. Don't worry about it, take the plunge into the plasma world.
