I have been looking for a new TV to replace my trusty 720p 37" Panasonic plasma, I really want to stay with plasma, can't get on with LCD and have found a 42" (which is the size I want, we sit quite close to TV) GT50 refurbished by Panasonic with a 14 day return full money back and 12 month warranty, so if it comes and is marked or anything I just send it back, my question is do you think this is a good buy? Its selling for £529.00 from Panasonic including delivery, I think this model came out 2012/13 I am only interested in picture quality, not bothered about the smart or 3d features.

This TV is a cracker, it's just whether it's okay or not, if it is you have good yourself a great deal. I would try it.

I can't see a Panasonic 50st60 deal, which is a shame. I did see this one though:

Could be worth a demo but the GT50 is a really good TV though.

I'm sure you have looked through this forum and found many a complaint about Panasonic plasmas, including the GT series. I am an owner of a GT50, and I've been one of those who have complained. There are also owners on here that do not have the same problems, or are not so sensitive to those problems, so opinion on them is evenly split.

Personally, I would be very careful buying a "used" tv from Panasonic, and I would be even more careful about reading the small print on that 14 day return, and 12 month warranty. Panasonic have gone out of their way in recent times to avoid repairing, or replacing faulty tvs, this is a fact, and is backed up by some of the formentioned threads on this forum.

The GT50 is a 2012 model, the tv they are offering is a 42", so in my opinion, the price looks expensive to me, even with a 12 month warranty, especially one which might not be worth the paper it is written on.

The Pioneer Kuro is the best plasma made, and how I regret selling mine, so if it was my money, I'd look around for a 428 or 4280. I know you won't get a warranty, but what you will get is a wonderful picture, a television that is built from the best components, and made to last. The 428 and 4280 are only 720p, but as the best quality tv broadcasting is only 720p, it made for the job.

This is my honest opinion, others may disagree, but it's an opinion that comes from experience with both makes.

This may or may not interest you.

Yep, this was a good deal too, if you can find stock:

Personally for a 2012 refurb 42" I think that's expensive. I'd also double check the terms of that 14 day return policy very carefully.

Ive had nothing but issues with mine which panasonic deem within spec. I'd be very careful here

Thanks for your reply's, the GT50 is already sold anyway, I did look at the X60 and its only £280 at the Co-Op but I really wanted full HD not another 720p.
