Superb customer service Currys... It's ok to return anything provided you haven't opened the box, or even dared to try it out

Actually reading the terms more closely I would have to agree with you because if you use it you are basically screwed reading them again!

I was just going to pick you up on that after reading them myself very closely, the opening line is actually very misleading as it implies you can return items to the store if they develop a fault but that's not the case unless it's within the first 21 days of purchase. I also note that it says any fault will be repaired with no mention of a potential replacement anywhere within the T&Cs, the more I read the more I simply wouldn't buy there.

Excitement on seeing this thread quickly quashed. My KRP600 is nearing the end of the 5 year warranty and hopefully won't expire anytime soon. It wouldn't be allowed under EU regs these days as it uses 478W for the 50kg screen and another 52 for the media box. Having viewed the latest 4k LEDs all disappointingly inferior with motion and colour accuracy. The only hope lies in OLED, IMHO

The Panasonic ZT65 is supposed to be better than the Pioneer KRP overall and gained reference status on AV Forums:

Hi Buzz,

Have seen it and mighty close, but aren't they axing that too? A fair comparison would be when the panny is also 5 years old. They all fade in black level a tad. Here's another fan:

Agreed. They don't hand out these accolades for nothing. If someone wants to replace their Pioneer, now is a good time to do so with the Panasonic, plenty have done already.

i've no regrets, having made the change from a pioneer 5090 to a ZT.

I agree, but Stephen Withers himself said to me that if you have a Pioneer 9th generation Kuro (LX5090, LX6090, KRP500a or KRP600a), and your main interest is watching Blu-Rays, and you are are happy with your screen size, and you are not concerned about 3D or Smart features, THEN it's not worth changing to the Panasonic VT65 or even to the ZT65.

If they want retailers who were "respectful to the brand", they should've chosen specialist retailers. People buying TVs from Dixons etc are just after the biggest screen they can get for the smallest amount of money. People will go to specialist retailers for a high quality screen, and there are independents who have massive customer databases, particularly for Pioneer screens. In the last few years of Kuro, they were flying out the door like iPod docks. This could've really helped independent retailers throughout the country. Instead, they give it to retailers who are only interested in selling the product they get the highest margin from - their extended warranties.

Having said what I said, if they're not genuine, then ignore what I said. If they're going through the likes of Dixons to get market share to compete with Samsung and LG, good luck!! That's a fight you won't win...

Costco must be a good one too. I think you get 90 days to decide if you want it or not!
