Hi all,
need your advice please. I`ve just been offered the pioneer pdp427xd for £500.00 ( yes it is new and boxed from a main dealer) comments please!! mainly watch freeview and dvd. is it still a good tv etc etc

Well here is the product spec sheet from Pioneer's website.

Bit cheeky calling it the 'Kuro archive', though, when the ultra-black, massive step up in quality only came with the 8th generation sets (the first to be called Kuro) in 2007. This is a 2006 TV.

It'll be a decent HD Ready set - but for only £100 extra you could get a 2008-generation Panasonic TH42PX80. Same resolution but with 1080p, 24fps support, excellent digital tuner, better connectivity....

Would be great to see those two side-by-side, but i'd back the Pana.

the pioneer actually supports 1080p at 24fps aswell, after owning panasonic and pioneer i would not think twice pioneer all the way

Woa woaaaa, no, the 42" plasma of Pioneer is HD ready, NO----Full HD...

Thanks for that.
I was actually lucky enough to get the Pioneer on a short loan before I bought it.Now here is the problem.
The picture is at times quite stunning......but its only as good as what you put into it. I mainly watch freeview and to be totally honest its just not good enough to part with my money. Once again I have failed to be impressed by a plasma. Faces in the mid distance look blurry and my current 3 year old lcd reveals more detail (pana) Could it be that larger screen sizes are not suited to freeview.
Could it be that I am missing a tweak that would solve the problem because it is a lovely tv at a fantastic price and I really want it to be as jaw dropping as all the reviews say it is, but sadly at the moment it is not good enough and will have to go back.
Really would appreciate any comments
