Hi all, I've got a problem - my PL-12d is running about 5-6% too fast.

I've timed a 3-minute track, played both on my LP12 and CD, and they are both accurate and hit 3mins. On the PL, it's over in just over 2m57 - which gives it a weird chipmunkesque sound.

I've read somewhere about too deep a belt being a problem, but it seems to be sat properly on the spindle, sitting on the lower half of the 33rpm section.

Any clues? I thought the PL had a synchronous motor, so the speed shouldn't be able to go "off". Has my motor had a fit?

Any clues would be great, as other than that it's a great little record player.

Cheers in advance, FBSF.

You are correct in saying the pl12 has a synchronous motor. It might be that the belt is catching on the 45 rpm part of the pulley. When the mat is off and the deck running look through the platter holes and see if this is the case.
