Any one know if the picture qual on the pdplx608D is better than the 6080D? The 608d has the colour plus feature.

The price diff is only about 80.00 The pioneer pdplx608d came top in the large plasma field test

in the latest whfi. The spec of both units are very similar apart from the colour Plus .Thanks for any feedback.

There's not much between them. The colour filter on the LX608D is supposed to give a slightly clearer picture in a bright, sunny room but the trade-off is that it is also slightly more reflective than the 6080. In a darkened room, they will give an identical picture. The colour filter only makes a difference to daytime viewing in a bright environment - and a very small one at that. So the choice is yours.

No problem. Don't forget that the new generation of Pioneer plasmas is launching in the next month or so. Prices are expected to be similar to the outgoing models so if you can wait a few weeks, you might get and even better tv for your money.

Sounds like a good deal with the 5 year warranty. I am very jealous. Make sure to look for recommended settings. The out of the box settings can be hugely improved with some tweaking.

Let you Know later. Thanks for the suggestion . Is it worth the 250 pounds call out for set up? Or use the THX method ?

Calibrators tend to recommend having at least a 200-500 hours on the set before getting it professionally calibrated. It's definitely a worthwhile service for a TV of that quality, no doubt about it. But it's not worth doing until the set has clocked up the hours. After that period the pixels and the colours will have settled - you'll notice the picture improve the more you use it. The THX method is a decent route to go down initially but it's also worth doing a Google search for the 'Pioneer 8G Owners Thread'. Look in the first post on there you'll find some great settings for a variety of sources. These can be used straight away as the set doesn't really require running-in as long as you're sensible with the settings.
