Pioneer 508xd Upscale

Hello all. I recently bought this plasma and would like to buy now an amplifier or receiver for my speakers. The question is that I don't know if it's worth to buy a receiver with upscale capability (mainlly for normal SD tv use) or if the Pioneer itself has any chip that converts the sinal SD to 1080. I hope I made myself clear.

AFAIK in the confusing world of scaling..........

The tv will scale the picture to fit the panel but it won't upscale it.

How are you going to watch SD tv? The tv tuner, a video, pvr or Sky?
