Would a Pro-ject phono box be a sideways move compared to a NAD pp1?

I have the Pro-ject and the NAD PP2, and there's not a world of difference.

However, a new Rega Fono Mini just arrived at the Ivory Tower, and it leaves the others out in the cold - better dynamics, soundstage, bass control, etc. Think it might even be cheaper than the others, too.
