Yeah I guess I'm biased but that's because I've never seen a really good LCD, they all suffered from that fine layer of screen noise. You know, like looking through a net curtain effect. Samsung was the worst. Even my £450 20" Sony in the bedroom has it, not good.
Granted I've not seen the new big Sony but the last Full HD Sony 40" that WHF gave all the praise too, 40W2000 I think it was, was a pile of cra*p with standard def pictures, in my opinion. I was sooo dissapointed when I demoed it.
The Pioneer really was head and shoulders above anything else I'd seen, but it was a premium priced product. SD is really important to me and more important to most people than they think it is.
Most of the TV we all watch is SD, only 5-10% at most must be in HD, from SKY or PS3. That leaves a hell of a lot of programming that has to look good in SD. For a start Full HD exagerates SD problems, i think LCD panels only compound it.
Demo football, motor sports or fast moving scenes, now that's a true test of any good panel, Plasma or LCD. It's not coincidence that these HD demo discs are full of slow moving panoramic scenery or concert footage!
