Am planning to get the the new Perreaux PRE/DAC DP32, and was thinking of a matching power amp that is more powerful than the 100p, so why not get the integrated Perreaux 250i (for 2400 GBP with no fitted DAC) and use it as a power amp, it can work as integrated at any time, and i assume it has plenty of juice to make my ATC SCM11 sing or my the other PMC Fb1i set tighter in the bass section.

I havn't listen to the 250i nd i don't have this option now, so would like to know how it sounds.

Any other ideas suggestions? or this combination should sound good already?

Pretty sure that it would work. You would have to plug the pre into the integrated with the HT bypass mode engaged on one of the units (probably the dac?), otherwise you'll have the pesky two volume control issue.

Apart from the extra juice is there any other reason that you would really want the integrated? How many inputs do you need? Remembering that anything you plug directly into the integrated will not be making use of the DAC on the pre.

From a quick google search it looks like the 250i has the option of having a 24/192 dac & phone stage module built in. Perhaps it would be better to go that way instead for simplity?

Does look like a very fine piece of kit :)

I have a Perreaux 150i with the optional dac & it`s the best amp i have owned by a long way, replacing a luxman l550aii. I personally think using a 250i as a power amp would be a waste of a superb amplifier. I would seriously consider a 150i or a 250i with the dac module. Even the 150i should have more than enough grunt for what you want. Personally i would contact Gary or Mark at Audio Emotion before you go throwing away money. They are agents for both Perreaux & Atc & will give you nothing but sound advice. They certainly won`t sell you anything just for the sake of it.

Mainly the power juice and brand compatibility am after,

i don't need so many inputs, and they can all be handled by the DP32, so adding DAC to the 250i will be a waist of money.

but again looking at the amount of power for the price it seems to good value for money rather than getting some Bryston.

Is the 250 wats from the perreax comparable to the similars of Bryston 4BSST? or still no match?

Can`t comment on brystons. Still can`t see the sense in buying a dp32 & a 250i when the 250i would probably do a better job on it`s own & buying the dac module would be cheaper than the dp32 by a long way. Good luck finding a 250i for £2400. I must have been looking in the wrong places!

The DP32 is a better DAC and more musical (I've told but didn't listen personaly), it also has a much better preamp section than the 250i,

but then matching power amp s currently my issue.

Sound advice...Gary and Mark know their stuff. Nice set up BTW.

Tried a 150 myself, but missed that Class A sound though and it developed a bit of a hum, so stuck with the Sugden.

Great and sound advice , if they add a "Thank you" button here, i would press it 100 times for Neil.

So this morning I called Audio emotion shop and the woman on the phone advised me to send an email as they are busy at the moment with some customers in the shop.

Dropped the email with all the deails, and before 2 hours i got a very well detailed and logical reply, that ended my wondering, thanks to Gary in Audio emotion..

The guy really knows his kits and what he's talking about  i wish if we have such shops or service here, would the only shop i go for, and knowing i'll get exactly what i want and easily.

anyway, he thinks that Perreaux are very good amps and this specific combination should sound great.

Now i need to make my mind, decisions, decisions time :?
