pc wont find external hard drive

Used a western digital passport HD for experiment to see how it works on my panasonic TV for recording, the TV formatted the drive for use with TV only.
However when I put HD back on to PC the drive does not show in my computer, it is recognised in the device manager as connected to a USB port, but I want to show it in my computer so I can format it and use it back on the PC and not on the TV.

Any one angle to help please

What version of Windows are you using? I'll assume it's Windows 7, in which case, with the USB drive attached, go to Start menu, right click on the Computer entry and choose Manage. In the Computer Management tool, you should see Storage and Disk Management under this. Click on Disk Management and under here should be an entry for your USB drive - right click on it and choose Format here to then format it back to NTFS / FAT32.

The only version of Windows ever I haven't owned! Having said that, I'm pretty sure it's very similar to Windows 7 in these sorts of things, so give the above a go.
