I am sure this has been asked before, so apologies to all, but grateful for any advice. Looking to purchase the kdl-40w4000, after your reviews, and would like to use it as my pc monitor as well, to cut down the junk on the desk top. Can I? And how? Thanks, Rick

You want to use a 40" monitor on your desktop, with only 1080 vertical resolution? You've got to be kidding, unless you will be doing your computing from television-viewing distances......

I wasn't planning on sitting in front of it, the screen would be about 10' away (other side of room). Does that make more sense?

Yes, much more! Maximum 1080 resolution is still not fantastic compared to the abilities of, eg, Apple Cinema Displays (up to nearly 2000), but I'm guessing you're not doing fine photo processing at that distance. Gives you the opportunity of using the PC as a media server as well.....

Anyway, back to the question - check your graphics card has a DVI or HDMI out, and if not get one, USB or PCI - then depending on what it has, get either an HDMI cable, a DVI-to-HDMI cable, or a DVI-to-HDMI adapter, to which you can connect an HDMI cable. Does that make sense?

Assuming you want sound, you need your soundcard to output something you can plug either into your TV or your amp and the subsequent lead for this.
