Not entirely but I am realistic enough to realize that every technology has it's own drawbacks, hence me repeatedly pounding out that the 'perfect' telly doesn't exist at present.
The best plasmas I've seen, from Pioneer/Panasonic also have the same issues for me, namely a low light output. Especially so since the advent of full HP 1080, reducing pixel size. Some older non-full-HP Plasma screens I've seen don't have that problem. I am fully aware that Panasonic have tried to improve that with their newer panels (as did Pioneer with the last Kuros) but constant pressure to increase energy efficiency must make this very difficult, to my eyes impossible of what I've seen. They do a lot of other things right though as do LCD's which for me at least, and for the moment, have the advantage. Add that to the fact that Plasma is a mature technology and has probably been developed to within a hairs width of what is possible and I can't see that change really though I may well be wrong and some would say it's the same for LCD. But they have lower power consumption on their side and just for that reason, is probably more viable for manufacturers trying to wring out every little USP and play on customer consciousness.
I'm sure there is something else around the corner already hence my recent comment on not getting into high end tv's anymore. Buy mid-range, tried and tested technology so you won't loose out to much in a year or two when the next best thing is available.
As always, just my opinion.
