Not entirely but I am realistic enough to realize that every technology has it's own drawbacks, hence me repeatedly pounding out that the 'perfect' telly doesn't exist at present.

The best plasmas I've seen, from Pioneer/Panasonic also have the same issues for me, namely a low light output. Especially so since the advent of full HP 1080, reducing pixel size. Some older non-full-HP Plasma screens I've seen don't have that problem. I am fully aware that Panasonic have tried to improve that with their newer panels (as did Pioneer with the last Kuros) but constant pressure to increase energy efficiency must make this very difficult, to my eyes impossible of what I've seen. They do a lot of other things right though as do LCD's which for me at least, and for the moment, have the advantage. Add that to the fact that Plasma is a mature technology and has probably been developed to within a hairs width of what is possible and I can't see that change really though I may well be wrong and some would say it's the same for LCD. But they have lower power consumption on their side and just for that reason, is probably more viable for manufacturers trying to wring out every little USP and play on customer consciousness.

I'm sure there is something else around the corner already hence my recent comment on not getting into high end tv's anymore. Buy mid-range, tried and tested technology so you won't loose out to much in a year or two when the next best thing is available.

As always, just my opinion.

Plasmas will always look dull in showrooms which are usually brightly lit with halogens, especially when compared to LCDs. There's a huge difference when you check the same plasma in actual home lighting conditions. If you can demo both TVs in a proper demo room at a specialist retailer, you should be able to compare them more realistically.

Sure but actual home lighting conditions, in my case anyway, is a combination of bright/dimm. Like I said, none of the technologies available do everything equally well.

I've demoed my Kuro and still found it to be lacking at certain times, excelling on others ...

Got my 42" today and out of the box viewing is superb. I am no expert but my two eyes are seeing a great picture.

Great and I hope you enjoy it for a long time.

Apologies for hijacking this thread leading into a pointless discussion about which technology is better to which there are no clear answers, only user preferences.

Back to the V20 owners.
