Hi,

I'm looking to upgrade my Toshiba 28" CRT for a more up to date TV. I've had my eyes on a Panasonic for a while and have read plenty of reviews saying that they really do make awesome TVs. However I'm a little stumped as to which model I should go for - I know I need a 32" or a 37" as the distance I'd be sitting ranges from 2.2m to 2.5m.

I'm also wanting to get myself a Full HD set up so I can eventually add to it i.e. receiver, blu-ray player etc... but for the time being it'll be used for SD SKY+ and playing games/watching DVDs through my 360 Elite. This may eventually include wathcing footy if I can convince the misses to let me get SKY Sports!

I also understand that Plasma's are the better option for larger screens but I've struggled to find a Full HD 37" Plamsa by Panasonic, but some of the reviews still say that the 37" LCD is top notch.

I'm trying to decide between the TX-37LZD85 (or TX-32LZD85), TH-37PX80B & TX-37LZD80 (or TX32LZD80)

Please help - any alternatives you may have are welcome!

Thanks in advance,

Jase

The 37PX80 plasma is a great set. Plasma TVs tend to give a better picture in general for Standard defintion viewings. This set will also accept a full HD signal and downscale it to 720p, so even though you can't display all the detail of the image it will at least display it, and it was still look really good. As far as I know there isn't a Full HD plasma.

The LCDs aren't as good for SD in my opinion, but both the models you mention are Full HD so would display all the detail in a full HD picture for when you upgrade to a Blu Ray player.

The most important thing though is that some people prefer one, some prefer the other. As much of my viewings are in SD at the moment, I like plasma. But there's nothing to say you wouldn't prefer the LCD sets. The plasma can be had for considerably cheaper from what I can tell. If I were you, I would head down to a Panasonic dealer to compare the sets side by side to see what you think.

I've had my TH-37PX80B for 2 weeks now and it is FANTASTIC. The best picture I've ever had. I had considered up-dating my DVD player (Sony RDR-GX300) as it has no HDMI but I connected it up via componant and the picture is astonishing. So I spent the money on a new CD player instead - a Marantz CD6002. I love it!
