PANASONIC TX 32LZD81 - VCR Recording Help Needed.

I am trying to set up the above TV to Record on a Matsui VCR. The TV has built in FREEVIEW.

The problem is if i try a Timed Record all i get is blackness but if i just hit the Record Button i get the Picture. I have followed the Manual but its not very clear on this point and so far it has not worked.

The VCR only has 1 Socket according to the Manual this should not be a problem.

I have it in AV2 for the VCR as it says in the Manual. I have also tried in AV1.
But again, when i try the Timed Record with the TV switched off i only get blackness.

Could it be the Qulink settings for the connection between the TV and VCR that i have wrong?

Any ideas? ta :)

I am Afiraid you need a separate freeview box for the VCR. I am presuming it is analoge. Therefore it is not getting any signal.

That is why you only get blackness

You cannot use the tv's tuner it will not work.

I suggest you chuck the VCR in the bin and go and by a freeview recorder. Look on the reviews section of this website.

Yep if you're recording from a tv thats switched off, the vcr won't be recieving a picture to record from, so it will record from black (no signal), as the previous poster has stated you need to treat yourself to a new shiny freeview HDD recorder.

Would my cheap Dion Freeview box that i used with the old TV work with the VCR? There is no mention of this in the Panasonic TV manual only DVD Players, Recorders or Cable boxes.

If not can anyone recommend a good budget Freeview Recorder?

About £200 is my limit.

Thanks :)

Your VCR will record from your tv's tuner if you leave the tv on or in standby during the recording.
