Im looking to purchase the Panasonic-SC-BTT755

http://whathifi.com/Review/Panasonic-SC-BTT755/

Mainly becuase I can use rear wireless adapter with this :)

I have a panasonic 50" Viera TV - Is this a good system to purchase?
Also, I want to use it with my Xbox, but one of the cons is the lack of HDMI inputs, does this mean no surround sound will apply when playing games, or is there a work around.

Also, could you also confirm if this is the exact same product as: Panasonic SC-BTT755EBK

thanks

i was looking into this, i'm not fussed over the wireless(ness) of this, but you might need to look more into it as i think the back ones are not the wireless ones, but the back-side ones (if it makes sense) its a very silly design if this is true!

The Panasonic wireless system will do both the surround and surround back speakers wirelessly in a 7.1 system, but in that case you'd need two wireless add-on kits, one for each pair of speakers.

And in answer to your other questions, you should be able to use the opticial digital input for surround sound from your X-Box. And yes, it is the same product - the EBK likely denotes English (or European?) version and BlacK finish.

If you have an older Xbox, I think you have to buy the official Xbox HDMI cable which then gives you the optical output so you can connect into the Panasonic.

On the newer S model, the optical input is included so you can just hook it up directly.

Wow - thanks for all the replies :)

Still a little confused on the wireless. I basically dont want any wires going from the TV area to the back of me (the rear speakers) I thought there were two tall boy front speakers and two tall boy rear speakers. The wireless is for the rear speakers?

Im looking at the 'SH-FX71 Wireless Transmitter' - So know wires will need to run across my room from front to back?

Also my Xbox is the old original one if that helps?

thanks

No, the wireless system takes the signal from the main unit to the rear speakers. You will still need a mains connection for the wireless receiver/amplifier unit, and wires from that unit to the rear speakers it's driving.

Hi Andrew,

From looking at the BTT755 manual, you're absolutely correct - this is a 5.1 system. You'd need to purchase the SH-FX71 accessory as you've correctly identified. The rear speakers then plug into this rather than the front system, so no need for wires going from the front to the back of the room, just from the SH-FX71 accessory into the rear speakers. Remember the SH-FX71 will also need a power supply going into it so they'll be a wire required there too - not an issue as long as you have a power socket behind your seating position.

For the older Xbox, you'll need the official HDMI cable (link) which allows you to then use the optical output into the Panasonic system.

EDIT - apologies for the duplicate info - had a work phone call halfway through posting!

Thanks for all the info, just one more question before I purchase:

Is the Panasonic SC-BTT755 the exact same as Panasonic SC-BTT755EBK

Just that I've seen on the web big price differences, the cheaper being SC-BTT755EBK ???

thanks again

I answered that in one of my posts above, but to recap it should be the same model - just telling you the country and colour of the model.

Do double-check what you're getting in the box before you buy, however - some may, for example, bundle in the wireless set-up.
