I was watching TV this evening but I had to pop out the room for a few minutes. However, when I returned, there was no picture on the screen. The amp was still producing the correct sound for the program being viewed but still no picture.

I switched the TV off at the socket and left it for a few minutes before powering on but this made no difference. I did notice that when pressing the standby button on the remote, the green LED flashes as normal as if the TV is starting up but before any picture appears, the green LED turns to an intermittent flashing red LED. I have checked the manual for advice but it doesn't seem to mention the red flashing LED. I have checked all the cable connections to the amp, TV and Sky box which all appear to be fine.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

One of my Panasonic TVv's has done this to me twice but switching off and back on has restored the picture. Sems to happen if I select guide just after turning on esp if a DVB update is available. Seem like the TV gets confused. Yours sound a deper problem. How old? Have you asked Panasonic UK?

I have had the TV picked up for repair but already it has been two weeks. According to Panasonic UK it is a power distribution fault. i.e. the power is reaching the TV but it is not going to the correct places within the screen to allow it to power up.

I'm a little disappointed in having to have a 8 month old £1000+ TV repaired and especially disappointed at the turnaround time for the repair.

It turns out that the panel has failed along with another 'component'.

It is now four weeks since the fault occurred so I'm really hacked off. Does anyone know if there is a time limit the repairer has before it is deemed excessive and a replacement should be offered as it is unlikely to be returned for another few days?

That is really poor service. It's why I buy panel protection on TV's. I can have mine swapped out for a loaner (of the same size and spec) the same day. Then If they can't fix mine I keep the loaner. I am amazed that Panasonic don't just replace it - it must have cost them more than the set is worth by now in diagnostic time!

UPDATE:- Finally got my issue solved and credit where it is due, Panasonic have been pretty good and replaced my unit. Only disappointed it took this long.

I cannot thank the Home Cinema Centre in Edinburgh enough as without them coming to uplift the screen and return and connect the replacement (all free of charge), as well as acting as go-between for myself and Panasonic, I don't know how long it might have taken.

Fingers crossed this one lasts a little longer!
