Hi, My Panasonic plasma has developed a line along the lower bezel through the Panasonic logo, Panasonic tell me this is normal, can anyone confirm that they also have this line? Other than this I am very pleased with the TV.

Hi Pannyman,

i cannot believe a manufacturer as big as Panasonic would say this is normal, of coarse if it was not there when you bought it then it not normal!, its more likely to be stress in the lower part of the bezel probably caused by fitting the Panny logo or the fitting of the bezel is a bit tight, personally if its stiill under warranty i would get them to change the bezel or a new one.

How long have you had the tv?

For it to look like that (Shame theyre not bigger pics to see better though), the tv must be under significant stress at that point

Id definitely get it sorted, as it looks to me as if its going to break at some point in the future

It's completely normal and nothing to worry about! It's a styling choice by panasonic and there is NOTHING wrong with the tv, my 42G20 has the same line in the bezel and has been there from day 1...it's never changed size or effected the tv in any way so don't worry about it, it's just an effort to break up the mundane styling of the bezel (not that it really works lol).

It's only noticable in bright conditions which is probably why you haven't noticed it before, all G20 tv's have this line within the bezel.

Hope that calms your fears

Thanks to you all for your comments.

Oldboy, you do calm my fears, glad to know other sets are the same. Did not notice it while unpacking and assembling to the stand, I thought it arrived after I first used the set. Anyway it looks no different now to when it was first used 3 months ago. But as a styling feature it does look a bit odd

No problem pannyman. You are right it does look a bit strange but you get used to it and it's better than it being a big slab of black when the bottom bezel is so large when compared to this years tv's, even the replacement for the G20 has a much slimmer footprint and there is no sign of the line either.

Hello Andrew,

Of course i remember and it's good to hear you are happy now after that awful experience first time around! Just remember to recalibrate the screen every 6 months to a year to keep the screen at the optimum levels, long live plasma, i'm thinking of buying a new plasma myself now as i've seen the recently reviewed Panny 42GT30 in action and i feel it's time to upgrade as that tv was very impressive indeed when compared to my G20.

Best regards, hope you are well
