Some how my new (ish) plasma has obtained a 3 inch scratch near the centre of the screen, now its not a deep scratch, if you run your finger nails over it you cannot feel it, I only noticed it when the sun light was directly on the screen, I have found a few items claimming to remove plasma / lcd screen scratches, has anyone used anything for this, what I am wary about is I think Panasonic have this plastic in front of the glass has it is covered in anti-glare stuff and I am worried that it will remove that, now I can live with it removing the anti-glare as I don't think it makes much differeance anyway plus we nearly always watch in low light or in the dark but I don't want to leave the screen with patches. Any advice please.

Can you notice the scratch during normal viewing? If not, I'd leave well alone.

My old plasma had a small scratch in the top right hand corner of the screen, but if I sat at least six feet away I couldn't see it. Attacking the glass with harsh products or any kind of force is unlikely to remove the scratch and will probably make things worse.

If it's interfering with your viewing, I'd contact Panasonic to see what they suggest. Repair would be expensive, however.

Hi,

if there is an anti glare coating on the screen it will be behind the glass not in front!, there is absolutely no logic in putting it on the front, in any event you are advised to leave well alone, if you cannot see it under normal conditions then thats good, you could argue a point with the manufacturer that you believe it to be there prior to purchase and see what they say but that may be more hassle than its worth, and since you can only see it with the sun on the screen with the tv turned off it really is not an issue.

I had a relative who had a similar issue on a pioneer plasma, and against my very strong advise not to, tried to use braso to remove an also very shallow scratch.

Needless to say he now has a scratch and section of his antiglare coating missing, don't risk it.

if it is a deep scratch you can fill the scratch with vaseline and then wipe over with a cloth and you wont see it

i run a refurbished tv company and we do it all the time works a treat
