Im trying to find out as much information as I can about various blu ray players before I upgrade. Ive read so many good reviews on the DMP-BD85, especialy as its meant to sound awesome. As far as I am aware, the best way to achieve the best sound is to bitstream it to my amp, and let the amp do the decoding. By doing this, would it mean that I wouldn't benefit from the different sound settings within the player that makes it sound so good?

Audiowizard,

That's a great blu-ray player. It will sound fine whether you decode the sound onboard or through your amp (although I would say the latter is the better choice!).

Make sure you set the 'High Clarity Sound' on your player to ON. That is a neat feature and one that makes the BD80/85 special.

Everything is slow compared to the Sony BDP-S370, unfortunately!

I have the Sony STR-DG820, not the best available, but still sounds great hooked up to my q acoustics 1010i. I would be bitstreaming the sound to my amp anyway, I assume this is the best way possible to achieve the best sound. Also some functions for audio within the player will be useless when bitstreaming the sound?

I am very familiar with the DG820, having owned one. This amp is fine.
