I have had the above tv for approx 2.5 years and have been very happy with the it (especially hd through sky hd). Some of the new tvs (such as panasonic g10, samsung b7000) are receiving very good reviews. I am considering changing but will the quality of picture (sound not an issue as I have a separate system) be a noticable improvement. I mainly watch sky hd programmes.

The present tv also suffers from purple clouding in dark scenes on occasions and was wondering if this is a serious problem ?

Thanks

Hello

I have had my 42px60 since March 07 and i love it. its been a great screen and I have had nothing go wrong with it. I still have it but this year I will be updating it as its not full HD.

As for new screens I am thinking of the following but am limited to a max size of 46". Otherwise I would hunt down a pioneer lol Also I don't like LCD over plasma but after seeing a few LCD ones I have changed my mind.

Samsung 7020 has blown my mind. Looking forward to seeing reviews on the 46" 7020.

waiting to see the Panasoinc V10/G15 in 42/46".

Sony Z4500 is great and waiting to see new Z5500 but am not a Sony lover.

Well I still have my 37px60 and Kuro LX5090 but also now a 46" 7020.

In truth other than the size issue (less of a problem for you) the difference in picture quality achieved at a proper viewing distance and properly calibrated is not as great as you'd imagine or be led to believe.

My PX60 also suffered from the purple snake thing or rather I was susceptible to it but mostly on standard def content and the worse the quality, the worse the snakes. On HD it was less prevalent.

The PX60 was a 5 star set back then and stands up well today. If you're happy with it now, I think you might actually be underwhelmed if you spent a couple of grand on a new tv expecting dramatic changes. It didn't stop me, but then I was coming from a smaller tv.

If you must have cool gadgets, media playing capability, a razor thin profile then the 7020 is awesome, but if in buying the latest and greatest you're expecting a heartstopping upgrade in picture, you will be underwhelmed (not disappointed, it is an awesome set).

Thanks for the reply - looks like I might save myself a few bob.

With regard the purple clouding - it is more apparent on HD programmes rather than SD. I also have a 37 px80 and do not notice this on that set - any thoughts whether this may be a fault or simply the settings require adjusting.

Thanks
