i sit 2.5 m from my tv and can buy either model, does anyone know what is my better option, size over quality ?? they are both similar prices. Any advice would be appreciated

hmmm , thats a tough one , you could easily have a 46in at that distance , but a 42in would also be fine .. i guess it depends on what compromises you want to make and how fussy you are over picture quality , the v20 has deeper blacks , and a better overall picture , but the g20 is also very good , and bigger is better for movies and sport imo anyway , if it were me , and i had to choose , id get the bigger tv , but i could change my mind on the way to the shop , the v20 is very very good

ha ha ha yeah thats exactly where i am, both tv's seem to have good reviews and v series very good. whichever one i buy i will think i could have had bigger or could have had slightly better. nightmare. cannot understand y they have a 46g and no 46v, thats just daft to me. any other opinions out there pls

theres going to be a 42 and 46 vt20 afaik , the 3d one , but not till late autumn at the earliest i believe , so im assuming they may make a 46v20 too , dont know though ..

could you stretch to the 50v20 ? thats what i would do , even if i had to sell a kidney

i could stretch to the 50 but i think thats getting too big especially as we watch a lot of sd tv. 50inch 2.5m away, mmm not sure.

46v20 can anyone confirm ?

Most unlikely that Panasonic will be doing a 46V20 as to go by previous years, they have never done a top end 46" as statistics for Panasonic shows that 42" and 50" sets sell very well but when it comes to 46", they don't sell as well as the other sizes, hence the cheaper 46" S20 or G20 range to cover that market. For them to make a 46V20, they think the general public will not pay for it as it could be closely priced to the 50" version which everyone would jump straight to.

I hope that kinda makes sense?

I went for the 42V20 after much deliberation.

I dont regret it for a second.

42's plenty and I sit about 3m away.

Choose quality over quantity

Can i ask how are you finding the blu ray pictures?

Thanks

Still not bought one yet.

I need 5.1 Analogue outs as my amp (Sony STR-930) will not decode the HD audio formats. I was looking at the Panasonic BD-85, but the format support and lack off DNLA video/mp3 streaming makes me want to wait for the Sony 760 replacement - especially as the 370 is getting such high praise.

I have a Humax Fot-SAT HDR which produces some really satisfing (though low bit-rate) HD images, so I have no doubt Blu-RAY will look superb. Even SD looks really decent on this set, so I am not to concerned about waiting a bit longer.

I think the only downsides to either of these Panasonic sets is shared. Colour banding on high contrast material, and the format / DNLA compatibility limitations. Oh, and probably sound quality - but then all flat panels have ropey sound quality from the built-in speakers IMO

Here's my original 'mini review' . I'm still loving it...

I read all of it, it sounds like me and you have been through much of a similar process, the sonys were the last ones to take my fancy too but in the last day or two i have now gone back to the panasonic v ones.

I would love to hear how you find blu ray pictures in the future
