Optical Audio cable

Hi Guys

I have decided to purchase a PZ80 instead of the PZ81 and keep my Sky HD box thanks to the advice on this forum, my question is i was wondering if there is any benefit in connecting an optical audio out cable from the Sky box to my new TV is there any benefit as i have a high quality lead from my old Amp

Aren't the optical sockets on the Sky box and TV both outputs anyway ?

They would both be shouting, but no-one would be listening !
