So, ive just recently gotten a little bit into the hifi world. I havent ever had any open back headohones yet and now im really interested in the HiFiMan HE 350 from Massdrop. I've heared people say open back headphones usually lack strength in base which is a little of a bummer since i like to listen to edm (no big room house, mainly future trap, deep house and something in between edm and alternative).
The thing is when i first bought my ATH M50x (my first headphones) i first thought they were, too, lacking in bass but now i think they definitely have plenty of it.
So especially versus the m50x, how much is the bass difference and suitability for edm of the HE 350?

It's too early to tell since the first production isn't delivered yet. The M50x has an unusual bass, which actually is stronger the deeper it gets. With most headphones the bass gets weaker as it gets deeper. I've had a few planars, but the 350 is a dynamic. Being open-back isn't necessarily bad for bass, unless you expect the bass resonances (bad) of most closed-back headphones. The only risk in getting the HE350 is returning to Massdrop, which might be a problem. Personally, I think if the 350 is reliable and doesn't go bad in any way, it will be a bargain, and easy to resell.
