Hey guys im new around here. i dont normally like joining a forum and the 1st post is help with a problem [:$] ive tried googling it but i cant find anything

Right i dont know how to explain this as ive already tried explaining it to the sales guy whom i bought the system from and he suggested i just download a new firmware. he said it does not sound like there is a fault with the receiver

I have the above receiver and have it connected to a blue ray player, ps3, wii and Sky HD which all feeds to a Samsung Series 6 LCD and KEF KHT 3005SE system. ive had the system since Dec 2008 and its been trouble free so far. I am very happy with it

for those that are familiar with the receiver there are 5 buttons to choose the desired input i wanna use (ps3 most of the time). I simply turn on the system i want to use and just press DVD for the blue ray, tv/sat for sky and game for ps3. The response is instantanious

now recently for say the last 4 months the receiver has been having problems displaying the picture and sound from the ps3. it would seem its not receiving the signal from the ps3 which is only connected via HDMI. The reason i think its to do with the receiver is because, say ive been watching sky and the receiver is fully up and running and up to temperature i can switch to the ps3 click the "game" button and turn on the PS3 and away i go no problem

the problem is when i turn on the receiver first thing and go straight to the ps3.. the "hdmi" flashes on the receiver display and then the tv would display no signal and there would be no sound. if i click onto sky it will instantly pick it up and its the same with the blue ray player. i normally switch between the sky and dvd and keep on re booting the ps3 until the receiver picks it up. hugely annoying and can take a few minutes. This is when ive first switched the receiver on after a long period of it being on standby

as i said if ive been watching sky or used the dvd player for sometime and then switch to ps3 it switches over instantly

now nothing has changed since the system was installed in dec 08. ive changed the hdmi cable on the ps3 and its the same thing

i dont wanna unplug my whole system and take the receiver back without knowing exactly whats going on or happening

please help its sooo frustrating

i hope you understand what im trying to say

i am about to do it in a bit

been messing around with it and now the receiver is up and running it instantly recognises the ps3 signal so im gonna wait until its cold again. i used a free hdmi input

i did plug the hdmi from the ps3 straight into the tv and it instantly picked up the signal so i doubt its a cable promblem. this was when the receiver would not pick it up

just tried to us the ps3 through a free hdmi input and again it too ages to recognise/pick up a signal. And again once pluged directly into the tv the tv picks up the signal straight away

is my receiver in need of a update ??

my ps3 is on the latest update/firmaware

Hi Buttons8, I have joined this forum just to reply to your post.

I had the same problem as you with my AV606 and PS3, in fact the issue broke 2 PS3's.

Originally thought the issue was the PS3 but I managed to fix it in the settings of the Onkyo.

Go to hardware settup, then HDMi. Set the Output Resolution to Through, Zoom Mode to Normal and Lip SYnc, x.v.Colour and Control to Disable.

Think it was the x.v. Colour setting that upset the Amp, PS3 combo.

If you already have those settings then I can't help you.

Thanks.

i guess im lucky enough for it not to break my ps3 yet

ive just checked the settings you recommended and i will wait until the receiver has been off for a while as it only does it when its been on standy and cooled right down

ive done all the settings you have recommended and my resolution setting was set to full. i think everything else was the same as you said

fingers crossed it works

how did you come across these settings to fix your problem ??

really hope this works

as its driving me mad
