Hi, I am thinking whether it is wise to get Onkyo TX-SR505 to drive MS914 without subwoofer. Is this receiver can provide enough bass to the main speakers without subwoofer for stereo music?

Marantz SR4500 lacks of bass in stereo mode and need support from subwoofer.

It's not the amp that lacks bass imho, it's the speakers. Have you set them to large etc.? Also a budget AV receiver, particularly an Onkyo isn't the best start for music. I would look at Marantz, Yamaha, Arcam, Cambridge Audio, HK and even Denon before I entertained an Onkyo for music.

Thanks for your respond. I agree with you about Yamaha, Arcam, and Denon. To me, these receiver have good bass reproduction for stereo. Onkyo is not my favourite brand either but I can compromise if this receiver is really good to replace my marantz 'no-bass' receiver.
