Hello all,

i'm starting my first steps in A/V receivers. After long searching, i've come down to 2 choices.

Onkyo TX-SR 608 and the Yamaha RX-V667, they will be hooked up on Harman Kardon HKTS 16BQ speakers.

which would be the best choice, looking at reliability and performance?

thnx in advance,

marco

Kayough76,

While the Onkyo TX-SR608 did win the Group Test, it was a very close fight with the Yamaha RX-V667 and Pioneer VSX-920 close behind.

So, it would be best for you to listen to both the Onkyo and Yamaha and decide which suits you better.

The 667 would be my choice with the Harman speakers unless you have a big space. We have them running on the Onkyo at the moment and it is a little too forward in the small area we running them in.

Hi Maro

From the comparisons i have made (not heard either amp with the Harman Kardon speakers though) i prefer and would recommend the RX-V667.

All the best

The main sources will be Blu-ray and downloaded HD movies, Digital HD Cable TV (I live in Holland, don't think we have Sky HD) and gaming on the PS3.

Music listening isn't that important for me. at the moment i have the sound through my Sony KDL-40W4500 tv, so I think the sound will be a great improvement.

The HK 16bq set will be just to start off, I wil replace them in time for a better surround set.

Thanks for the replies so far,

greetz Marco

I bought the RX-V667 a few weeks back and its currently running with my logitech Z5500 satellite speakers and a Q Acoustic 2000C centre speaker (i dont actually have a sub attached)

I'm looking to purchase the SW150 as the sub woofer for the setup but i;d like some recommendations on a more punchy souding sub as my old Z5500 was very heavy and i live in a semi house with thin walls

How well do people think the Q Acoustic 2000 series would pair up with the RX-V667? Im looking to get the slightly larger 2020 book shelfs and bi-amping them

I have a room 4.4m by 3m with the TV on the 4.4m wall, so the room isnt very big
