Later this month, I am going to buy this receiver.  However, I am aware of the heat that this receiver has.  In order to prevent any problems, I want to make sure that my AV cabinet has enough room for air ventilation.  The cabinet I am looking to buy has 8" of space above the receiver and 2-3" on each side.  The cabinet is against the wall so there would not be much ventilation behind it - perhaps a few inches.  Should this be ok?  Or should I consider buying a cooling fan?

Shouldn't be a problem with that amount of space above it. It's the back right corner that houses the video circuitry that gets the hottest.

My Ikea 'Tobo' unit has very similar free space around my 875 and I have no problems. You should be fine.

You'll be fine - my '905 has a few inches of clearance at top, sides, and back and has been running without any problems.
