Onkyo ND-S1 input options

Apologies if this has been discussed before.

Have an Onkyo ND-S1 on the way and just wanted to know if you can access an external hard drive library through the USB port on the back? This would then be controlled by the ipod(?)

I have all my music on this hard drive and the ipod only has 4gb. From this its into a 606 via optical. Any ideas?

As far as I know, the ports on the dock are only 'outs' not 'ins'
