Onkyo 905 v. Yamaha RXV 677

Hi

Just bought a speaker package ( Q Acoustic 7000i ) and there was a bundle deal offering the Yamaha RXV 677 with the speakers for next to nothing

Wasn't planning to upgrade my amp ( Onkyo 905 ) however now wondering whether to use the Yamaha or sell it on

How would it compare to the Onkyo in terms of tv/movie peformance, I very rarely use the system for music.

Clearly different price points but is that outweighed by the newer product?

im not convinced it'll be an upgrade.

I demoed yamahas flagship receiver (2013 model), and it was only a bit better than the 905.

its worth trying as you might enjoy the different sound, but I woulddnt think of it as an upgrade.

I love the sound quality and power of my Onkyo 905 but the feature list on the Yamaha is bang up to date. Gadgets vs power? Best listen to both and let your ears decide. Presumably a 5 yr warranty on the Yamaha and no warranty on the Onkyo. You would presumably raise a bit more cash for the Onkyo but I doubt there would be much in it.
