and now I have just put on transformers to show of my new subwoofer

and it wil only play in pcm

I could relate to it if it wouldn't play true HD and other forms all the time but not sometimes yes and sometimes no I don't get it

can some one help me please

Hi Emile.

It may be that the disc doesn't default to the HD formats automatically. I know from watching 'The Dark Knight' the other day, that I had to go to the language/audio options to manually pick Dolby True HD from the list of languages. The disc started playing automatically with regular DD.

If it doesn't play True HD after selecting it yourself, then there's gotta be something I'm overlooking.

I'll try a few discs through my BDP-S350 & TX-SR875 to test for myself, and get back to you.

Is the BR player set to bitstream. If its set to PCM the amp wont show it as a HD sound format, although you wll still be hearing it. Have a check through the player settings, perhaps you can specify particular soundtracks to transmit differently, so if say Dolby True HD is set to bitstream from the player the amps HD light would light up as its doi ng the decoding of the HD track, but if DTS HD is set to pcm any film in this format would transmit in PCM (with the BR player decoding te sound and then transmitting it to the amp) and you wouldnt get the HD light lighting up on the amp.

ÿ

Thats the first thing I would check anyway. Also check the Onkyo amp settings, you can specify any source and select how you want it to play, you can tell it to play a HD track in stereo every time if you wanted so this could be a reason for this too.ÿ

here is a bit more info

it does'nt do it all the time sometimes its just fine

I always go into the disc menu to choose the HD sound format

my pana bd30 is set to bitsream

I can hear a difference between pcm and HD sound format the HD sound format has a lot more presense.

I will go into the onkyo menu and check things out

when i do a hard reset to the receiver it gets the HD sound right away

greetings Emile
