just set up my dads new budjet hifi seperates system, as he is housebound now and likes his music,

the heart of the system is the rather good sounding Onkyo 9030 amp

But.....when turning the volume knob there is a slight 'crackle' or a clicking sound, its not really like a dust in the pot but more of an electrical sounding clicking, only noticable on certain music usually quiet passages, but the weird thing is its only if the volume is turned quickly :? , if it is turned slow its not a problem and cant be heard !

and another issue is when I turn the balance control all the way to the left there is still a small output of music from the right, and vive versa the other way, Have I got a lemon, should this go back to richers ? or is this normal for this amp, anyone any experience, apart from that the music performance is very good

I have the 9030 and for the money it is really good.

My volume control is fine with no noise. I have not tried the balance as what is the point of doing what you are doing?

If you got it from Richers then take it back.

Good luck.

The point of what I was doing is trying all the controls. bass treble balance etc to make sure they all are fine, maybe I am being very picky ! , its just that the left and right channels dont go off completetly when turned full either way, most amps turn the corresponding channel completely off when turned fully left or right, not thats its a problem, just thought it might be a fault, same with the slight clicking noise if the volume is turned up quickly , but this could be an issue with most motoriised controls,

I will have a word with richers

apart from that ,like I said, the sound is very good, so maybe its not worth the bother,
