Onkyo 606 suddenly gone 50% quieter?!

I use my Onky 606 with my V+ box (kit as below).

I used to have to keep the volume at 30 to 35 for loud viewing (under 30 for background).

Oddly, after turning it on one day it is now about 40 minimum, and up to 50 for decent viewing. There seemed to a blip at the same time, where I was only getting sound through the centre chanel.

It has now settled down and is just much more quiet?! Have I accidently changed anything on the set up? I had swapped from hdmi to optical for the sound, so I may have changed something that has caused this (although after the change it was fine for at least a month!). It can't be the change itself as I have reverted back to hdmi to test and it is just as quiet.

Why has it suddenly lost about 50% of the volume?

hi,i have a 605 and have noticed the same thing.consulted the instructions{last resort}and have adjusted the intellivolume to bring volume up to previous setting.you can adjust input volume of sat/dvd etc.hope this helps.regards pompey2

Hi, only a suggestion, i may be completely wrong, you haven't got any speaker cable shorting have you.
Also you could try setting up with the Audyssey, that might help &/or one of the sound settings.
