Onkyo 606 and sky HD

I have connected sky hd to my amp via HDMI. Do I also have to connect an optical lead?

Also, which are the best sound modes to listen to DD sources? Listening to channels without dd, I have found the best one is PL/II

Not sure if this is common knowledge, but I have also found out that it will control a sky hd box using the remote codes in the extra book.

You don't have to connect an optical lead, but it's best to as, for some reason, the Sky HD box only sends stereo audio over the HDMI cable. You need the optical cable to get 5.1 output.
