Looks like tiny woofer and £350 price point. Doesn't look good at all imho

Well, QAcoustic make a living of improving cabinets ... whilst leaving drivers alone.

The woofer looks similar to the Wharfedale but are they the same?

Cyrus have almost certainly looked to far eastern lands for their ONE series.

Update the ONE linear are actually a bit heavier and has a bigger cabinet volume (almost the same size so im wondering why cabinet is more than 50% higher on the ONE linear than the diamond 220, 7 vs 11 liters)

How can you know?

Have you heard the Cyrus speakers?

De-facto recommendations seem to be MA Bronze and Concept 20 at this price.

Not so much choice around Cyrus' price of its new speaker, more so at a level above and below.

Quite clever. The pair, amp and speaker coming in at below £1k.

Reading the company description of the speaker I also like what they are trying to achieve. Clearly some thought has gone into it. Add low'ish sensitivity (quoted 86db/w ... perhaps lower in real use) for decent bass this is probably not a speaker to be used with budget/entry level amplifiers and possibly will be better with capable products of decent power.

I can imagine a few negative comments from owners of cheaper Marantz, NAD etc products trying this unsuccessfully.

I hope it sounds good. The one thing I don't like are the white rubber inserts for the grille. Other than that I thought it looks ok and a little different.

Why use wharfedale (atleast the bass,midrange) and not mission?

Do we have to asume that cyrus sounds better with wharfedale than mission speakers?

The Cyrus speakers have been designed to compliment the Cyrus One amplifier. Cyrus wouldn't go through all that trouble if it was just a tarted up Wharfedale speaker, and at this point, we don't know whether that bass driver shares anything with Wharfedale's, other than possible the cone itself. Let's just presume for a moment it is the same bass driver - maybe Cyrus found that to make a speaker at this price point, that was the best one to use, given everything else they wanted to achieve with the speaker?

Even if the driver was the same, those jumping to conclusions are ignoring the role that the crossover plays in the end result (as well as the cabinet). And like other speakers, they're from a different mindset with regards to speaker design, so naturally will do things a little differently.

Cyrus aren't part of IAG.

Let's have some real world opinions on sound quality based on listening rather than conjecture. They're available early next month, by the way, so any opinion up until that point is complete guesswork.
