One thing that hits home for me is where the article mentions the death of PC's, I spent nearly 1k building a lovely looking well spec'd HTPC. It's now sitting under the stairs in the cubby hole, it just doesn't do anything better than my PS4. I'm planning on getting it out near the end of July for the free Windows 10 upgrade but that's about it.

Another thing I've just stashed as of today is my Virgin Media TiVo box, it's joined the HTPC as un-needed.

As for a reversible magic USB cable, yes please!
